This year we celebrated our July 4th a little early. My brother Doug was in town from Ohio and he had to fly back on Sunday, so we had a family get together on Saturday! Here is a pic of the kids and I before we left. Eric is behind the camera. :(

It was fun to be able to spend the day with my family. All my siblings came, but we missed many of my neices and nephews. They just have their own families now, and everyone is busy!

She had the perfect back yard with canopies to provide shade for all of us.

We had a potluck lunch with sloppy joes, and plenty of sides.
Then to top it off there was POPSICLES!!

Road Trip Through Santaquin Canyon

One Saturday Eric had the kids because I was working at a booth. He decided to take them on a drive through the canyon. They were able to go on a little hike, and except for the bright sun in their eyes, they had a fun day!

Usborne National Convention 2011

This year the Usborne National Convention was in June. The theme was MORE!

(Sorry for the crappy pictures. Each year I try to edit the lighting in photoshop and it never helps. I guess the lighting in the room every year sucks.)

This is our National Sales Manager Heather Cobb. She just started this Spring and is AMAZING! She was able to speak to us, and her story is incredible!

Happy 4th Birthday Cade!

Since all my kids birthdays are in the Spring, it is no surprise that Cade landed in the Spring as well. He was born May 25, 2007. He is the baby, and I can't believe he is growing up so fast! We had a little family party for his 4th birthday here at the park!

He is obsessed with red, so you will notice that he got a lot of "red" things. Red balloons!

Here is a bunch of different shots of family. I did the party in Pleasant Grove, so more family were able to attend.

We just had pizza, with cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. It was really fun!

We did have an Egg Hunt full of fun baskets and surprises, but I did not capture any pictures of that once again. Grandma & Grandpa Saul spoiled the kids rotten, and made sure they were fully supplied with goodies before they headed to Wyoming.
They did have baskets full of candy, eggs, sidewalk chalk, games, hula hoops, and Cade even got his very own basketball. They were thrilled.

I did happen to take a few pictures of the egg coloring adventure!

St. George

At the first part of April Eric's parents came to visit and stay for a few weeks to be here for Alyssa's baptism! Eric and I decided to take advantage of this, and go on a little "get away" to St. George for a few days! We had just had our Anniversary a couple weeks before, and it was my birthday weekend, so it was a perfect time!
We just headed down to St. George for a few days! We had some temple names we had been working on and were able to go and finish them. We spent about 5 hours in the temple that Friday and it was wonderful!

Neither one of us had ever been inside the St. George Temple, so it was a very neat experience.

Also that weekend I had an Usborne Booth. Why not make the whole trip a tax write off right? It was the St. George Kite Festival. Never in my life had I seen so many cool kites.

The wind was perfect, and it wasn't overly hot. Just perfect!

Jaida's 10th Birthday!

Jaida had to share her birthday this year with Alyssa's baptism. I don't think she was very happy about it. Not everyone could stay, so we hurried and fed everyone after the baptism, then later that night she FINALLY got to open her presents.

Her Justin Bieber shirt that she begged for after Alyssa got one for her birthday. After I bought it she decided that she hated Justin Bieber. When she opened the shirt a little over a month later she was "disgusted". It was pretty funny. She will not wear it in public, and only wears it for sleeping. Whatever. I can't keep up with the fads. At least the shirts were only $1 at Walmart.

And last but not least, Jaida's "new" room! She had dark green walls, so she picked a fun, bright green color. She also had a cute bedspread to match, but when we got it out I had accidentally bought a full size, so we had to take it back. When we returned it, she found this one she liked better. I like this one better too!

I really liked how this room turned out too. I was able to get her dresser painted white, which helped, but she will have to wait on the blinds. Little bits at a time, so we will add to hers probably at Christmas too! Anywyay, she loves it!

Celebrating 14 Years!

This year Eric and I celebrated our 14th Anniversary.
On April 4, 1997 we were married in the Manti Temple.

I can honestly say after 14 years, he is still my best friend and I can't imagine life without him.

We had plans to go to St. George for a few days later in April, so I will post about that trip later. Happy Anniversary honey. Here's to another 14 wonderful years!!

Preston's 12th Birthday!

I feel like such a crappy mom because for some reason I
have NO pictures of Preston's birthday. :(

We did have a small party for him. Our family, Grandma & Grandpa Robison, his Aunt Celia, Uncle Jeff, and Cousin Whitney went to Pirate Island! Other than having to wait FOREVER for the food, we had a good time. They have Karaoke, which was entertaining to say the least. :)

Preston turned 12 this year, got the Priesthood, and started passing the sacrament. He was so excited, and loves every bit of it! He has thoroughly enjoyed young mens, and scout camp that he got to go on this year.

For his birthday he got money from Grandpa & Grandma Saul, money from Grandma Wittick, some new ties from Grandma & Grandpa Robison, from all of us he got a really nice sleeping bag, a Star Wars Wii Game, the Fablehaven 5 book, and a new tie tac.

We love you Preston, and are so proud of you!

P.S. Just last month he was made the new Deacon's secretary in our ward.

Alyssa's 8th Birthday!

Finally catching up!! First up: Alyssa's Birthday!

This year for the kids birthdays I wanted to do something cheap, fun, but different. I decided to buy a huge bag of balloons and blow them up while they were at school. Since Alyssa's birthday is first, she got the first batch. Here is a couple pics of 72 balloons all over her room.

It would have been fun to do twice this many, but trust me 72 was enough. She loved it and thought it was so cool to have that many balloons in her room!

For her birthday she wanted Kentucky Fried Chicken, so we invited Grandma & Grandpa Robison over, and just ate, and opened presents. First off she got a new bedspread (you can see it in the background.) The jammies she is also holding were from Grandpa & Grandma Robison.

One of her favorite other gifts, a Justin Beiber shirt!! Also, the sheets next to her new bedspread are from her Great Grandma Wittick!

Next up was a really cute scripture bag from Grandma & Grandpa Saul.

And finally, her very own brand-new set of scriptures engraved with her name!

She was so happy! Here is a final shot of her checking out all her stuff. We let Preston take the photos, so we didn't end up with a shot of cake, or grandma and grandpa sitting there on the couch.

This year we also decided that instead of just adding to a already full toy collection, we would do a "room makeover". (Thus the new bedspread, sheets.) Here is a quick pic of her newly painted room and bedspread which she knew about and picked out herself along with the paint color. We still need to paint her dresser, and add a few more accessories, but it is a start. You can see before pics in the top picture of this post with the balloons.

Maybe we can add a bookshelf, along with a few more things for Christmas. We also need a valance or some curtains too! At least it's a start!

Don't Know Where to Start....

Believe it or not I have wanted to blog many times over the last 6 months. I love reading others blogs, and I have just decided mine is too boring.

I have a hard time writing creatively, or finding things that I think are worth blogging about. Something will happen, and I think, "that would make a good blog post." Then by the time I get around to bloggin about it, I don't think it's that exciting anymore.

I love pictures on blogs too, and I seem to be lacking in the picture taking department. That is another reason for my hesitation. We didn't even get pictures on Halloween. How sad is that?

I have sat down a few times trying to organize what pictures we do have and from which events, picking a few to highlight and give anyone who may be reading this an update. Needless to say my follow through has been at level 0.

So at this point, I am just going to bullet a few things we've been doing since my last post!

September:

*We went to the CentraCom summer party! My kids had a ball with the bounce houses, retaining wall, games, cotton candy, and snowcones. Eric works for such a great company, we are SO blessed!

*Eric marched in the governor's day parade. I did get some cool pictures of this. It was hot, but it is always neat to watch this event.

*Eric got promoted to a Sr. Master Sergeant in the Air Force. WAHOO!!!

October:

*Grandma & Grandpa Saul came and stayed with us for a few weeks! It was so nice to have an "RV parking" driveway for their motorhome. It worked perfectly.

*Halloween was fun as usual. The kids love to dress-up, and this year we had a new ward, new school, and new neighborhood. It was great. Preston was an army guy, Jaida and Alyssa were both witches, and Cade was a cowboy again. Our ward had a big dinner, then a trunk or treat. The kids were also able to go trick or treating around the neighborhood, and go to a haunted house that our neighbors put on every year. They thought it was pretty cool!!

November:

*This ended up being a big Usborne event month. I had a booth near the end of October. It was quite successful, and I ended up booking 3 preschool book fairs, and 4 home shows. I already had a few events scheduled as well, so this really kept me busy through the end of the year. It was great! I really love what I do!

*For Thanksgiving we were able to go to Eric's uncle Jim and Aunt Barb's house in Baggs, Wyoming. This was so much fun. We thought the weather might change our plans, but it turned out to be nothing. We loved seeing family and spending a few days together.

December:

*In December we enjoyed a few Christmas parties, and getting ready for the holidays. It was fun to decorate in our new house.

*Christmas was wonderful. The kids were able to get some fun things, and we just feel so blessed to be back in a home again. We had a few ups and downs in 2010, but overall it was a really good year.

January:

*Eric turned 41!!! :) (He will love that I posted that. Ha Ha)

*I attended Usborne regional training. It was great, and I love getting together with all my Usborne friends!!

February:

*Eric had 2 guard drills this month. The last one being a HUGE inspection. They passed with flying colors and he was thrilled to get it overwith!!

A couple other things are in the works and changing for us, but I will post later about that. We have also already started our family's birthdays for the year, but I will create posts for that soon too.

First Day of School 2010

When we first moved, or knew we were moving to Santaquin I looked into the schools and decided to enroll my kids in C.S. Lewis Academy, a charter school here in town. My kids didn't complain about it, but they weren't necessarily thrilled with the idea. I thought that smaller class sizes might help them, and I felt like the uniforms would be a good thing.

Throughout the summer I was having major anxiety about this. I just couldn't settle and feel good about my decision. Many people have done similar and loved it, so I kept trying to convince myself that I would too. I knew because of the change it would take some getting used to, so I left things alone.

About 3 weeks before school started I changed my mind. I just couldn't rest with my decision, so I pulled them out of C.S. Lewis and put them in the local elementary. AAHHH, finally I can rest. I don't know what it was about it. I guess it is just not for us, at least not at this time.

Excited to start on their 1st day!

Alyssa was a little nervous and shy at first. She didn't want to go in her classroom or anything. A few girls came up to meet her, and introduce themselves, and she still was a little hesistant. Finally I got her to go in with her teacher, and she seemed to relax a little.

Overall they are thrilled with where they are at! They have loved their classes and their teachers, and seem to be making friends and adjusting really well. Finally now I will be able to sleep at night! :-)

A Day at the Children's Museum

One of the last Saturdays before school started, we decided to take the kids to the Children's Museum at the Gateway. We hadn't been up there yet, and Preston had got a coupon for us to go, so we figured why not?

Here is the kids outside the museum. Cade refused to get in the picture. I think he was ready for a nap at this point.

And you can't go up to the Gateway without playing in the Splash Pad! I guess we should have brought our full blown swimming suits!

We definately had a fun day!

Orchard Days Parade 2010

Eric had to go to guard the weekend of Orchard Days, so it was just me and the kids for the Santaquin Days Parade. They always love to see the floats, horses, motorcycles, and of course getting the candy!!!

This year we were Flying High as we attended Usborne National Convention in Tulsa. My picture taking skills seriously lacked this year, so I aplogize now for mostly crappy pictures! :) Here is a picture of Friday morning Supervisor Training.

2010 July 4th Wittick/Warren Family Reunion

Over July 4th weekend this year we headed to Buffalo, Wyoming for a family reunion. Eric's grandma has wanted to get all of her family together for a really long time, so they tried to make it happen for her. Relay for Life

This year I decided to support a good friend of mine, and join her team for the Relay for Life! Something fun that I have never done before, and also for a good cause. Can't beat that! The relay is being held from June 11th - June 12th at Mountain View High School in Orem. For those of you who don't know about this event, here is some general information:

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives people in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

Part of participating means collecting donations, and offering any type of fundraiser. Each participant is asked to raise $100. If you are interested in helping me reach this goal, you can make donations straight to the American Cancer Society in my name from the website below.

My poor hubby's feet...

Almost 3 years ago, Eric's feet started bothering him. They would be tingly, numb, and sore all off and on. He played around with different things, and it got better for a while, then went bad again. Not really painful, just enough to be annoying.

About 6 months ago, I seemed to notice that it was getting worse. He seemed to tough it out daily, but I could tell his feet were bothering him. When I finally convinced him to go see a Dr. he didn't fight be as bad as I thought he would, so it must have been bad enough.

First he went to our family doctor. They took blood, ran some tests, one of which was for diabetes. They did come back with the diagnosis that his blood sugar was a tad bit high, but that couldn't have had anything to do with the fact that he was drinking Mtn. Dew by the gallon. LOL
So, he quit drinking Mtn. Dew and they put him on metformin, so of course between the 2 his blood sugar is normal. So now no more metformin, and not near as much Mtn. Dew either.
But still, after those changes, nothing had helped his feet, so we decided to keep digging.

The next step was to see a nerve doctor. He went and got his feet poked and prodded to check to see if he has neuropathy. That was a no go, so they next sent him to a podiatrist.

This doctor put him on Lyrica, which is a nerve medication to help replenish the nerves or something. After a couple weeks of that and no relief, we kept digging on the internet trying to find our own answers.

The tingling and numbness had since turned too quite a bit of pain, and was making it hard to walk and move around. This hasn't been easy what with us trying to move and all.

Anyway, finally the other night we were reading on the internet and came across the most perfect description of what Eric was going through. We printed it out so he could take it to the doctor with him and show him what we thought. At his appointment yesterday the doctor had come up with the same diagnosis in his notes. It is called Morton's Neuroma.

Morton's neuroma begins when the outer coating of a nerve in your foot thickens, or becomes enlarged. We are not sure what caused this, but we do know it is very painful now and something had to be done.

While at the Dr. he was given a cortisone shot in each foot. I think this was more painful than the neuroma itself. However, in the long run hopefully it will help!
After 6 weeks, if things haven't changed, we will try foot orthotics, if that doesn't work we move to surgery as a last resort.

Please pray for the cortisone shots to work! He has suffered enough!

New House!

Easter was pretty simple at our house this year. We just hid a few eggs in the yard and let them go looking. They had fun! Here is Cade doing a little collecting!

Happy 9th Birthday Jaida!!!

Nine years ago on April 9th my sweet little Jaida snuck in to this world a tad too early. Born at 27 weeks, weighing just 2 lbs. 12 oz., and measuring 15 inches long. She scared us all half to death by coming that early, and we didn't know what the next few hours, days, weeks, or months would mean for us.

Needless to say, here she is 9 years later, a perfectly happy, healthy little girl. She is our little miracle baby! We love her and are so proud of the big girl she is becoming!!

We went shopping and she was determined to have these blendy pens!!

She also chose Pixos!

Mom decided it was time for a new jacket!

And a girl can always use a new pair of pajamas!

Her little brother played photographer for the night and captured a close-up of her new piggy bank! (This year Target had the cutest banks, so I made it a goal to get each of my kids one for their birthday.)

She also got money from Grandma & Grandpa Saul, and Great Grandma Wittick, and a sewing machine from Grandpa & Grandpa Robison!

Celebrating 13 years!

Almost 16 years ago I met a boy while Country Dancing at the Palace. He asked me on a date for 2 days later. We went skiing. This was the first time in my life!

About 2 1/2 years later on April 4, 2007 we got married in the Manti Temple. We came to Wyoming for a second reception a couple months later. There, I met his daughter Josey for the first time.

And now, 13 years later here is all of our kids, and even 1 grandchild. Crazy huh?

I can't believe it has been 13 years, and I am still as much in love today as I was on that day, probably even more! Happy Anniversary honey!

Lucky Month

March has been a busy, yet good month for our family........at least so far!

Usborne came back from a short hiatus in full force, so my days have been filled with books, booths, meeting new people, and parties! Don't get me wrong....I LOVE IT!

We also were able to pay off some debt with our tax return and get qualified to buy a home. We found one quickly that we just loved, so we moved on it. We are now waiting to close, and become homeowners once again!!

Once moved and settled, I will post details with pictures, but needless to say we are excited!!

We also have a couple birthdays this month. Alyssa's was on the 1st, and we will be celebrating Preston's on the 28th. My kids are growing up so fast!

Last night we went with Preston to his final Cub Scout pack night. After Sunday he officially moves to the 11 yr. old scout group. WOW, before I know it he will be leaving on a mission. I am not sure what I think about that. LOL

Now it's time to gear up for April with our Anniversary, 2 more birthdays, Easter, Usborne, closing, cleaning, packing, beginning to move, etc.

We are more than ready though. This time it will be FUN!

Just a follow up to say that we got the house! We put in an offer on Wednesday, and got word yesterday that they accepted. We are now officially under contract and set to close on April 26th!!

Is it really possible that we could have 5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (with another to be finished later), a huge yard with vinyl fencing, a double garage, and an additional single separate garage???? The house only being built in 2004 in a great neighborhood?

It has all the features we love, and we are looking at a really great price if all goes well. Trying to keep it from going to a short sale is kind of tricky, so we are waiting on the exact payoff from the bank. We will see how close it is to a payment we are comfortable with and if we can really do it!

Of course there have been a few bumps in the road (on the seller's side). That wouldn't be our life if everything went perfectly smooth all the time. We are trying to be patient and leave it in the Lord's hands. If it is meant to be......

It would cut Eric's commute in half, and not be too far from the "city". We went back a second time and saw it again last night. We thought if we went one more time while we were waiting to put in an offer it would confirm that yes, we still feel good about it, or maybe it isn't as cool as we thought the first time.

But, now we loved it MORE! Fancier counter tops that we didn't realize were in there, a jetted tub in the Master Bath (which by the way we have never had a master bath so that in itself is exciting). We also discovered a HUGE pantry that we didn't notice before, and a little nook in one of the bedrooms making it a much larger room.

Wow, we are trying so hard to be patient, and praying that everything works out! Hopefully we will be submitting an offer this week, and keeping it from going to a short sale. Most if not all of our paperwork is done on our end, so we shouldn't have to wait too long to close. We will try however to push closing out a tad if needed just so we don't overlap in payments. We have this rental until the end of May, so we don't want our new house payment to start until June!

The House Hunting has Begun!!!

Last week I was able to go meet with a lender, and get us pre-qualified to now once again purchase a home! We are so excited!!! Still a little nervous, as we just want to find something that we can truly call home! We are looking mostly in southern Utah county, so we shall see.

We are trying to time it just right to get in on that last tax credit! We did own a home for 5 of the last 8 years, so if we can time it just right, the $6500 tax credit would definately come in handy next year!!!

Our lease in this rental is up at the end of May, so if things go well, it should work perfectly.

The kids brought home free tickets from school to go to the Utah Flash game at UVU. Eric took them, and they had a really fun night with dad!

Our season of birthdays is starting at my house. Once March hits, it seems we have birthdays or other family celebrations about every 2 weeks. We always start off with Alyssa, who turned 7 on March 1st.

We just went over to grandmas, had dinner & cake, and opened a few gifts. Grandma even made her a sign!

Letting Go.....

I don't know about any of you, but I have a little Diva on my hands at the ripe old age of 6 (almost 7). She LOVES to do her own hair, and put together amazing outfits. Well, today I just let it go! I usually tell her, "That doesn't match, those don't go together, you're not going to wear that, etc."
Well, today she was so excited when she walked out and was ready for school, I just let it go. As hard as it was for me to let her wear this outfit to school, I just did. I mean after all, "It all has pink, mom." How can you deny that face?

I have never been into all the trends and styles as much, but I do like things to match. So, letting go and letting my kids be their own independent selves is probably one of the hardest things I'll ever do. If it is this hard to let them pick out their own outfits, who knows how I'll be by the time they get to college. Ha Ha

Winter Sledding

Last weekend I had a big Regional Training with Usborne that I was attending. So Eric, being the awesome dad that he is took Friday off and spent both Friday and Saturday with the kids!!! And, what is winter without a day of sledding!!! They were even lucky enough to find some great snow left close by. Here are several pictures highlighting their fun day!

I am so glad they had a good time, but seriously Spring can come anytime now!!!! :-)

Webelos Badge & Arrow of Light

For the last few months we have been working with Preston on finishing up his Webelos Badge, and getting his Arrow of Light for the scouting program. I was trying to learn everything I needed to know (since I know NOTHING) about scouts, so I could help him. His desire was strong enough, and I made it a top priority. He loves Scouts.

This award is only available in Cub Scouting, and since he was turning 11 at the end of March we really needed to get busy and finish things up.

With the help of some awesome friends, and great scout leaders, I am happy to say we finally made it. Here is pack night with some eager boys, anxious to receive the award as well!! (I am posting this backwards, because technically he was supposed to get his Webelos Badge first, but they did the Arrow of Light ceremony first. It was all in the same night though.)

I guess I am a true carboholic.

We didn't get any really good shots of the kids and all their stuff at the end. They had plenty of it, and we didn't have room. Our living room is so small, so we moved things out as quick as possible! I also discovered something as I viewed the photos Eric took on Christmas day. I was in most of them and I didn't like what I saw!

As you can see by all the pictures above, I am not in any of those. I skipped over several, and there was definately some cropping involved.

A New Year's resolution was made that day for myself, and I was determined to stick to it! Please see the post above this one for details. :)

We have never really made it a tradition to open up a gift on Christmas Eve. This year our family was so blessed that we decided to let them each pick one. Here they are opening a gift of their choice! Here is Cade just getting started.

Alyssa's Christmas Program

I'm not sure what the schedule for grades is, but Alyssa was the only one with a Christmas program this year. Maybe it is a 1st grade thing. Here she is getting ready to show us her talents.

Hometown Heroes Salute

The first Friday in November Eric's unit had a special awards night, honoring all of those who just returned, or have recently been deployed. They called it a "Hometown Heroes Salute". It was really neat. They served dinner, and had a couple speakers.

The coolest part was they invited the employers of those who had served and honored them as well. One of the owners of the company Eric works for came with his wife! We thought it was awesome they would come all the way to Salt Lake for it. (They and only 1 other employer came.) I guess they only gave them like 4 days notice! It was definately a feel good moment for Eric when they walked in. They had to walk through the line up and receive a special plaque. We took a picture, but it somehow must have got deleted. :(

Here is the "line-up". Kind of intimidating. Each of us (wives and families included) had to go through the line-up and receive awards. Eric received a very nice plaque, I received a medal, and a nice pen/pencil set and all the kids got dog tags. It was really nice.

This is a picture of Eric's boss getting her award. She is retiring here in a couple weeks, and they are really going to miss her up there!

This event was extra special for their unit also, because they were eliminating their specific unit, and combining with another one giving it a brand new name/title. It was kind of sad for a lot of them. Here is a picture of them retiring the unit flag.

All in all it was a great night, and everyone had a good time. We had a guy take pictures while we were getting our awards, and have yet to see them. Maybe someday.

Thanksgiving.....Finally!

We were able to go up to Eric's grandmas for Thanksgiving in Wyoming, and it was really nice! It had been almost a year and a half since we had been up there, so Cade was MUCH bigger to her!

Even Preston always seems to grow a few inches in between each visit!

Eric doesn't change too much though. :)

We did have a few guests join us for dinner this year!

It was great to also be able to see and catch up with Grandpa McConahay as well!

I do love the holidays, and it is always nice to get together with family! We also very much enjoyed Eric being back home, and were not looking forward to him going back to work. But it was inevitable. We headed home from Wyoming on Sunday morning, and were able to stop by Eric's dads one more time and say goodbye!

Our Little Getaway!

Thanks to a good friend Megan, Eric and I were able to go on a little getaway up to Park City for a few days when he got back. Nothing fancy, but we had a nice little studio apartment, with a full kitchen.

It was so nice to spend a couple relaxing days doing nothing we didn't want to, and just enjoying snuggling by the fire!

We made most of our own meals in the kitchen which was fun, but we did hit Ruby Tuesdays for dinner before we came home.

Here we are kissing in the elevator. Eric got a new camera while overseas that he loves, so he has been pretty camera happy since he got home! :-)

We had a great time, and I decided this needs to be at least a bi-annual event!

Eric Comes Home!

Well, the day finally arrived! On October 21st at 9:00 p.m., Eric's unit returned home from Qatar! They were greeted by many employees lining the hall with flags clapping as they walked towards us. It was great to see them!

The smiles were big ones as they began to see family and friends awaiting them there. They were so glad to be back on U.S. soil.

I had to take a back seat for a hug because my kids desperately needed to hug their daddy. Except for Cade. He was still not too sure he was ready to go to him yet.

I tried to give him a backwards hug, but Cade still wasn't ready.

Eric's uncle Russ came to welcome him home as well. I know that meant a lot to him!

Several of the officers from the unit were also there to welcome them back.

The girls even made Eric carry them down the escalator.

My parents, and my sister her husband and their 2 kids came to the airport with us.

Finally Cade decided he wanted to go to his daddy.

He got to ride the luggage cart out to the car. It was the only way he would let Eric put him down. Grandpa couldn't even carry him, which is rare!

The kids crashed the minute we got on the road.

I had hardly got to wish Eric home because I let the kids take over. Eric decided to steal a kiss on the way home while I was driving.

Cade woke up as soon as we got home. Then he wouldn't go back to sleep. Eric had to hold him and rock him, and he wouldn't let him leave his side.

All in all, we were very glad to have him back!

As most of you know, I will be promoting to Supervisor with Usborne on October 1st! It has been a very busy couple of months. I have been a horrible blogger, but between Usborne, being a mom, getting back in school and now having 3 kids with lots of homework, I don't have time!

My days have been filled with booth preparations. Organizing books, labeling books, taking inventory, etc. This week I will be at:

Last weekend it was the Utah County Pet Fair! This was a fun one! Lots of animals, and right off Salem Pond. I think I might look for houses in Salem when the time comes!

They even married a cow and a bull! :-)

And of course, my booth!

Also for the last couple months I have had the Pleasant Grove Promenade (Farmer's Market) every Thursday night! This has been fun and I love chatting with people in the community!

Time for a big bed?

The last few days Cade has been taking his naps in his big brother Preston's bed. He loves it! We still have him in a crib, (no other child pushing him out of it at this point), plus it was just easier. He doesn't climb out, and he seems to be doing okay in it still.

He has however been waking up at all hours of the night since Eric has been gone. So lately I have wondered if it could be that he is ready for a new bed! He moves so much in bed that maybe he would be happier in a normal bed now.

I guess I should start looking for another set of bunkbeds since this house wouldn't allow anything else!

Nothing cuter than a sleeping baby (okay, toddler) but he is still my baby! :-)

Eric's Trip to Doha!

Eric sent me a couple pictures a few weeks ago! He finally got to leave the base with some of his unit! They were able to go into Doha and see the sights! Here they are in the car!

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Dedication

What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday! Today was the dedication of the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Such a wonderful experience!
I was able to take both Preston and Jaida to attend. It was so nice! We are such a blessed people, and I am so proud to be a member of the church.
There are so many things in the world today that can pull you in all directions. I feel so grateful to know that my life has purpose, that there is a plan set up for all of us, and there is so much more to look forward too. I love the temple, and we are so blessed to be surrounded by so many. Attending this meeting once again strengthened my testimony. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, and he has laid out a plan for me to return and live with Him again.
I felt the spirit so strong today. It made me miss Eric, but at the same time reminded me once again that no matter where he is at the moment, we are an eternal family. I am so grateful for that knowledge. I knew when I was very young that I wanted to get married in the temple. I let nothing stand in my way. I am so thankful I found a worthy man with my same values willing and able to take me there over 12 years ago.
I pray that I can make good choices, and continue to live worthy to attend there often. Attending the temple is one of the greatest blessings we can receive on this earth. We just have to take advantage of it.
One of the messages today talked about how we have nice homes with all the accomodations for living. We have rooms for eating, rooms for sleeping, rooms for television and recreation. We need a room for the Savior! Make sure He is in our homes. Make sure there are pictures on the walls depicting our beliefs, and representing who we are and our faith. Have reminders of the standards we have set for ourselves so we don't get lost in the shuffle.
I know simplicity is one of the keys to being happy, but when we include the Savior we only increase that happiness!

Back to School!!

The kids all went back to school this week starting Thursday the 20th of August! Summer was great, but with Eric gone we didn't do near as much fun stuff, and they were getting bored! Here is Preston my big 5th grader. It is freaking me out that he is old enough to go to Clear Creek this year. I loved Clear Creek!

Pleasant Grove Promenade!

Beginning this year on July 2nd, Pleasant Grove started their own hometown Farmer's Market. It is just outside the community center lawn at 200 South Main in Pleasant Grove and goes from 4-8 p.m each Thursday evening.

I have had a booth there each week, and it has been so fun! They are still looking for more vendors, especially food and garden items, so if your interested, here is their website:

It is fun to come walk around a bit, and socialize with the locals. They also have a kids corner for the little ones, plus there is a playground right there as well. They also have live entertainment each week, with various performers.

I am so far behind, but I just realized I never made a Birthday post on Cade a few months ago! My little Wesley Cade McConahay was born on May 25, 2007. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 21 inches long. Such a perfect little baby, and my easiest birth of all!

Just a little about Cade:
Cade has been a wonderful addition to our family. I can't imagine our lives without him. He is so sweet, loving, helpful, spunky, and smart all rolled into one. He still doesn't talk a lot, but it is amazing out much he knows! He loves playing ball (with any ball), he loves books, he loves trucks and tractors, and loves to lead & direct music. So funny!

Life in Qatar!

Eric has been gone for almost 2 months now, so we are almost 1/2 way done! It is harder at times than others, but we are surviving! Here are just a couple basic pictures he sent me a while back. This is just various shots of the base.

Can you believe all the pretty colors? NOT! I would so miss the mountains, trees, and flowers. Everything is so white. Blah!

This is like an outdoor lounge area. Everyone can hang out. Let me remind you it hardly ever goes below 100 degrees there. And if it does, it is like 2:00 in the morning. It is usually around 110 to 115 degrees every day, and has gotten as hot as 140 degrees. They also do not have rain there at all. Since it is the desert, they have mostly sandstorms.

Here is Eric with one of the guys he works with! What is funny about this is when Eric joined the military over 20 years ago, he was stationed at Beale AFB in California with this same guy! Small world!

My Awesome "Working" Vacation!!

I just returned from the most amazing convention I've ever attended! Each July is the Usborne Books & More National Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While I was "working" and receiving great training, I haven't had more fun!

Maybe it was the limo ride from the airport!

Maybe it was spending time with friends!

Maybe it was being fed 3 meals a day, and not having to do the dishes!

Maybe it was the amazing speaker Jim Trelease, who was truly inspiring! If you haven't read his book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" I strongly recommend it!

I even got my picture with him, and had him sign my copy!

Maybe it was becoming more motivated to build my business!

Maybe it was taking my picture with the CEO, and be given extra incentives to grow!

Maybe it was playing games with a bunch of new friends every night until 1 or 2 a.m.

All in all, it was a spectacular event! I love the company, I love my job, and I know I can make a difference in many children's lives starting with my own! What more could I want?

I think Cade misses Eric the most, simply because he doesn't understand what is going on, or why he just never came home from work one day.

I got Eric a webcam and sent it in the mail. He got it today, so when we talked on MSN we were able to use video. We could see and hear him, but he can't see us. (My webcam isn't here yet.)

Anyway, Cade loved it! He tried to climb right up into the computer. I think he thought the closer he got to him, maybe he could really touch him. Very cute and sad all at the same time.

We are hanging in there though! Only 15 more weeks. LOL

Little Houses

Well, here we are! We are finally settled although the garage is still full. We didn't have time to unpack a ton before Eric had to go, so we just have the basics. The last couple weeks have made me realize how much "stuff" we don't really need.

I was worried at first, being in this cozy little house, but can I just tell you how much I love it? It can get a little noisy at times, but that's just when the fenced yard comes in handy! :-)

I have discovered that this is my time to truly simplify. There is so much out there to really clutter our lives, and when it comes right down to it, none of it really matters. When I think of little houses, I think of this song. It makes me happy!

Summer Stylin'

Cade needed a haircut really bad, and the girls (and me) were wanting to get a cute summer cut! I finally took them in yesterday to all get their new "do". They immediately went out to play when we got home so they could go show all their friends, so this is later in the afternoon. Still very cute, and MUCH easier to take care of!

Bangor, Maine

Here is a picture of Eric, and one of some of his Unit taken at the Bangor International Airport. There are so many troops that go through there, a group of people started a website to honor and recognize all the soldiers. Eric said it was the coolest airport he'd ever been to. They had wifi, and they were handing out cell phones. Then from this group, guys came around taking pictures to post on their website. Below is a quote from their website:

Eric Leaving for Deployment

Today was the day I had been dreading for some time now. I don't know how these women do it for 3 to 4 times longer than I have too. It is the life of a military wife, and I guess you get used to it. We had to arrive at the airport by 5:00 a.m. The plane was leaving at 7:00 a.m.

They were able to get special permission for us to go straight through to the gate, so that was really nice. I was able to linger clear until take-off.

Here is Eric checking his monster of a bag. It was big and huge, and so HEAVY! It is truly a good thing that they waive overweight baggage fees for the military.

Everyone kind of standing around. Waiting until each one was checked in and ready.

We had one of the guys take our picture while we had the chance. While I liked the picture, I was smiling a little too much considering the circumstances. Someone was joking with Eric though so I started laughing, and I was caught with a big cheesy grin.

Here is the group of them. Several of them went on the deployment to the same place last time too (almost exactly 6 years ago), so things will be fairly the same.

He Passed!!!!

My hubbie passed his 5th and final test for rank advancement yesterday!! I am so happy & proud of him. Those are some pretty tough tests, and I don't know anyone who loves taking tests. He has to wait until his Senior retires (should be after the first of the year), and then he will replace her as SENIOR MASTER SERGEANT!!!!

If any of you know Air Force, it is not an easy task to obtain this. This should all happen this fall/winter in between deployments, but he is now next up for sure!!! When it happens I am sure they will have an official "ceremony" type event. When they do, you can bet I will post those pics for sure, but the hard part is over!!!!

Way to go honey!!!

Quick Update!

Sorry, everyone! I am so behind on my blogging, but just trying to keep up with life.

Here is a quick update, with hopefully detailed posts to follow with some things later.

My St. George booth was fun, and a lot of work! The attendance was down, so sales weren't over the top, but we did well, and I got a really excited recruit, so it was worth it. She is pumped to begin her new Usborne adventure! We also got invited to the Tuacahn Summer Market, so once I can figure that into my schedule we may look into that. :-)

And the biggest thing over taking me at the moment is moving! By this time next week we hope to be settled back in Pleasant Grove. It has been so much work, and is quite the process, so it will be nice to get settled.
A big bummer about that is though, it just brings us closer to Eric's leave date. I don't think it's quite hit me yet that he's leaving. I hope we all survive.

We planned on moving a load over Memorial Day weekend, but the truck we were borrowing fell through, so we had to postpone things. Our landlords are also finishing up some painting and new carpet in the rental home, so they weren't quite ready for us even in the garage, so it worked out for the best that we wait. We are just anxious!

Monday, May 25th was Cade's 2 yr. birthday as well. We just had a cake and ice cream, and let him open several gifts. He needed new clothes desperately, so that was the bulk of it, along with some summer sandals, and of course a couple really cute books.

Next week will be even more crazy, and I don't know if I will have internet through the whole process, so until I do, you may not hear from me. Maybe in a couple weeks I can get back to normal.
Next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I have another Usborne booth in Lindon though, so I doubt it!

I have to admit, even with all the craziness, I'm loving every minute of it!

Holy Cow!

This past week I have been crazy busy with Usborne stuff! I was lucky enough to be invited to join the Holy Cow boutique in Pleasant Grove. Sales were awesome! Much more than I expected, since it was the Mother's Day boutique and I knew most shopper's wouldn't be looking for children's books.

However, our books are fabulous, so it doesn't surprise me. I also got invited back for the September show!!!

This week will be just as busy! I have a district meeting in Provo on Thursday with 17 Literacy Coordinators, wish me luck!!! Once that is over, that evening I am leaving for St. George to do a booth at the "What Women Want" expo on Friday & Saturday.

Business is booming, and what can I say...I Love It!

Eight is Great!

Last Saturday our little Jaida was baptized. It was her special day! A new dress, new shoes, new scriptures engraved with her own name instead of mom's old ones. :) A very cute scripture case from Grandma and Grandpa Robison, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. What more could a girl want? Being 8 really is great! She was so excited and happy, and couldn't quit smiling the whole day.

She was baptized by her dad, and confirmed by her Grandpa Robison.

It has been kind of ironic, when we moved into Moroni, we moved into an old friend of mine's ward. We were best friends growing up, and it has been weird to end up here close to her in Moroni of all places. Anyway, she also has a daughter who is a couple months older than Jaida. It just so happened that they were able to get baptized on the same day.

Here is just Courtney and Jaida together. They were in the same class last year, and have become friends. I think it was fun for them to be baptized on the same day too.

Congratulations Jaida! We sure love you!

*As a side note, I do have to say, that yesterday at church the bishopric member who was conducting called Jaida up to the podium to announce her baptism. We were sitting all the way at the back. She did not even hesitate to make the LONG walk up to the front.
It was kind of crazy too, because if the primary is singing, she WILL NOT go up there. Ever since we have moved she is too shy to do anything. Well, not yesterday. I was so proud of her!!!

Flashback Friday!

In March of 2007 Eric had a training that he had to attend in California. It was a military training, and it was just him that had to go. He got special permission for me to go with him, and we drove. It was about 9 hours, but so much fun!!

We stayed in miltary housing. This is the outside hall on our floor.

Here is Eric and I in our hotel room. Grandma & Grandpa Robison kept the kids, and it was a nice getaway for us. Even though it doesn't look it in this photo, I was 7 months pregnant. I laid around all day watching t.v. while he was in class. I was never officially put on bed rest, but this trip was very good for me!

We're moving again!!!

The past couple years have been the craziest days of my life. It has been so hard trying to make decisions on what's best for our family. But...after much thought, prayer, and family discussion we have decided to move back to Pleasant Grove.

While the small town country life definately has a few perks, we never felt like this was our home. We gave it our best shot, and the kids have been really good sports, but when it is all said and done, we just aren't happy here.

Even the kids still beg to move back after all this time. Since Eric is being deployed, we decided it would be best! He will leave from June to November, and then again from January to May. It will be nice to be back up by family and close friends. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

We are still working on a couple options for places to live, but we are trying to at least get the kids in the same elementary school as before. They are ecstatic, and can't wait. I feel bad that we dragged them through all of our changes in hopes that we could make something work. But, they are troopers, and will bounce back okay I hope.

The school year ends here on May 22nd, so we are hoping to move over Memorial Day weekend.

These are some of the biggest things my kids miss since we moved. Just the simple swing set that we had to sell when we moved, and our small sandbox.

They all loved to play on it, and got along so well together most of the time.

And the sandbox was the BEST! They would play out here for hours! This is a definate must with our next house!

For Easter weekend we went to Colorado to spend some time with Eric's mom & dad, and his Aunt and Uncle. Aunt Brenda was a great hostess, and my kids fell in love with her...again! We all had a very nice time, and these two ladies spoiled my kids rotten!

Flashback Friday!

Since we just celebrated Jaida's birthday, I thought I'd flashback to the pictures of her birth, and some time spent in the NICU. We were only in there 7 weeks, and at the time it felt like the longest 7 weeks of our lives. We know we were truly blessed with a miracle! We also had a wonderful family support system, and couldn't have gone through any of it without you!

Great Grandma Robison in awe of all this. This type of technology was never around back in her day.

A little cry or a yawn, I can't tell.

At about 3 weeks, they discovered that her head was starting to swell. She would need to have surgery to drain off the access fluid. She had grade 3 hydrocephylus caused by a blood clot in each of the ventricles in her brain. Here they are getting her ready for the surgery.

It took several of them to transport her and all the machines they would need.

This was one of the scariest days of my life!

Here she is after surgery, which went really well. The doctors had to drain the fluid for a few days through a shunt, and then things magically started to work on their own. They told us that there was a 90% chance she would need a permanent shunt for the rest of her life. I guess we were in the 10%. About 6 months later when she was much bigger and really healthy they went in and removed the shunt (which was called an Omaya Reservoir). We have never looked back since.

It wasn't long after that that we could finally take her out and hold her for small periods at a time.

Eyes wide open! She finally felt like saying hello to the world.

Jaida's 8th Birthday!!

As most of you know, Jaida was our little preemie! She was born at 27 weeks, weighing 2 lbs. 12 oz. Considering all that she went through, she is our little miracle! Today is her 8th birthday, and you would NEVER know she had a rough start! For her birthday post I decided to post a picture for each year! Enjoy!

Several years ago Eric and I were able to go to the new (at the time) Billings Montana Temple and do some temple work with his family.

We all got to take part in an ordinance, and it was a great experience. Plus, it's always fun to go to a new temple!

It's Official! Orders have been cut!

Several months ago we heard that Eric was going to have to go overseas with his Air Guard unit. We heard all sorts of rumors about dates and times. May, June, 4 months, etc.

Well, this past week his orders were officially cut! He is set to leave the first part of June, and return home just before Thanksgiving!

He is going back to Qatar, exactly where he was before. In the above map it is the little peninsula right in the middle. In the top left of the map is Iraq, most people know where that is, so here it is in comparison.

While this is a standard deployment, and I highly doubt a dangerous one, it will still be hard to have him gone that long. I hope we can stay busy during the summer, as I think that will be the hardest part.

My brother was here visiting from Ohio this past week and wanted to take all of his sisters to lunch for our birthdays while he was here. We planned to go to Brick Oven and I couldn't wait! As it turned out, my sister Shawnee was not able to go, so we did really miss her.
We did have a nice time though, and here we all are enjoying soup, salad bar, pizza,
and amazing garlic bread.

One of the first things Doug said when we sat down was,
"I need a sign that says...No, We Are Not Polygamists." Ha Ha

You gotta know Doug! It was fun though, I wish we could do that a lot more often. Not necessarily on Doug's dime, but I really enjoy getting together with my siblings, they're great. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Mom & Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary - June 2002

For my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary, my mom didn't want a big formal party. She just wanted all the family together. We decided to surprise them with a 2 day getaway. My little sister Maria found a cabin you could rent.

She took my mom and dad there as if they were going to buy into a time share for it, and were wanting my parents opinion. (They didn't suspect a thing since their real anniversary wasn't until September, but June was the best time we could all get together.)

This took a year of planning, and sometimes I can't believe that we pulled it off. We were all waiting in an upstairs bedroom, and we all said surprise when they came in. My mom and dad were really surprised, and I know it thrilled them to have all of us there.

I don't remember exactly how many there were of us crammed in that room, but there was a lot, including small children of whom we were trying to keep quiet.

The surprise however was not over. My brother and his family had flown in from Ohio and my parents did not know that they were here. They had been hiding in a bathroom in the same bedroom. Once we all came downstairs and were laughing and talking about how we put all this together, my brother Doug and his family came downstairs.
Needless to say there were more tears, and plenty of laughter too.

My sister Robin had made of video of my parents kind of like when you get married. Here we were all watching it.

Some of us camped in the yard, and went on 4 wheeler rides. Even my 90 year old grandma!

It was great just relaxing together. Watching t.v. and hanging out.

We played games, visited, and enjoyed being together for 2 whole days. I even think every single one of us was there at least for part of the time. A definate memory I'll never forget.

In our family on the 1st birthday, you get a jello cake. Your one chance to play in your food, and make a complete and total mess. None of my kids have ever really gone to town in it, but we can't not do it because it is tradition!

Draper Temple Open House

Like many of you in the valley we were able to attend the Draper Temple Open House today. It was such a neat experience, and I felt like my kids really could sense the reverence, and special spirit felt there. I was amazed how strongly I felt that we ALL needed to be there together to experience it. Just another testimony builder that families can be together forever thanks to these wonderful buildings!

It is times like this that remind us why we're here, where we are going, and our purpose here on earth. We are also blessed to know where we are going after this life, and that there is a place and divine purpose in all things.

Build-A-Bear!

This past weekend we headed up North to begin some birthday festivities for Alyssa who is turning 6!! We decided to surprise her this year and take her to Build-A-Bear. I'm sure most of you have been there, but we never had. It was all a good time, and in the next few weeks and month the other 2 have decided they want to go there as well! It was a big hit!

Here she is with the Hannah Montana bear she picked out. Absolutely refused every other single one in the whole place. Oh, and don't mind her black eye. She was running last night and plowed right into grandma's couch. Great present for your birthday huh, poor thing!

I told her, "Look at ALL the other choices." Nope, didn't work.

Snow Caves!

Last Friday night Eric took his 11 yr. old scouts on a smaller version of the Klondike! They dug snow caves and slept in them over night. Preston isn't quite old enough officially, but Eric let him go. They had a really fun time, and I know Preston loved spending time with his dad!
